Working with Groups and Columns

Groups and Columns allow you to create more complex layouts for your content.

Using the Group Block

The Group block acts as a container to bundle multiple blocks together:

  • Add a Group block from the inserter
  • Add blocks inside the group
  • Apply settings (like background color) to the entire group
  • Move all grouped blocks together as a single unit

Groups are useful when you want to:

  • Apply a background color to multiple blocks
  • Add a border around related content
  • Move multiple blocks simultaneously
  • Create reusable block templates

Working with Columns

The Columns block creates multi-column layouts:

  1. Add a Columns block from the inserter
  2. Choose the number of columns (or adjust after adding)
  3. Add blocks to each column
  4. Adjust column widths by dragging the dividers

Tips for Columns and Groups

  • You can nest columns inside groups and vice versa
  • Column layouts automatically adjust for mobile devices
  • Use the “Full width” alignment option for edge-to-edge designs
  • Consider saving frequently used layouts as reusable blocks
